About Me

Meet Joni

Josephine “Joni” Friedrich, OTR
Pediatric Occupational Therapist | Founder of Adventures in Progress

I believe childhood is one of life’s greatest adventures — full of discoveries, challenges, little victories, and endless opportunities to grow. Every child takes their own unique path, and I feel honored to be part of that journey.

As a pediatric occupational therapist, my greatest joy comes from getting to know children for who they are — their personalities, interests, strengths, and the wonderful qualities that make them unique. I believe children learn and grow best when they feel safe, connected, and supported. My goal is to create a nurturing environment where children feel comfortable being themselves, excited to explore, and confident enough to try something new.

Over eight years as a pediatric occupational therapist, I’ve had the privilege of working with children and families in outpatient clinics and school settings, helping children build skills for meaningful participation in everyday life. I earned my Master of Occupational Therapy from Tufts University and my bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin. My educational experiences also took me to Oxford Brookes University in England, where studying occupational therapy abroad helped broaden my appreciation for different perspectives and experiences.

My approach

My approach combines evidence-informed practices with purposeful play, creativity, and a strengths-based perspective. I believe therapy should be engaging, meaningful, and tailored to each child’s individual needs. Whether we’re working on everyday routines, building new skills, or navigating a challenge, I want children to experience the joy of discovering what they can do.

Partnering with families

Just as importantly, I believe that supporting a child means supporting their family. I value open communication, collaboration, and helping parents feel informed and confident. My hope is that families leave our time together feeling understood, encouraged, and equipped with practical strategies to support their child’s growth in everyday life.

At Adventures in Progress, I hope to provide a strong foundation of connection, confidence, and support — helping children embrace life’s adventures, one meaningful step at a time.

I’m so glad you’re here, and I look forward to getting to know your family.

Warmly,
Joni
